PREFACE
Milli Educational & Welfare Society is an Oasis like appearance an abysmally neglected Kishanganj district of Bihar, Situated in North Eastern part of Bihar. It shares National & International Boarders, Darjeeling District of West Bengal in the East. Nepal in the Northern side and Bangladesh boarder is too close; it is basically a corridor between North Eastern states and rest part of our country.
The Population of the district is about 23 Lac, where Minorities & Dalit, OBC, SC & ST population is about 98%, where Surjapuri Beradari (OBC) dominates about 85% of this total population of this District.
The District has the lowest literacy rate in Bihar/India and Female education is at about Zero Level. Majority of the population below poverty line (BPL) and hardly 5% population may come under lower second class category.
The Economy based on Monsoon Sponsor Agriculture. Mass Migration of youth & children is an open secret, it is not by choice but it is a conviction. There is no industry that can provide avenues of employment, The Technical Education almost nil here. In a nutshell illiteracy, poverty, underemployment, unemployment, poor healthcare, Money lenders hegemony and governments’ apathy and all other negative factors write the destiny of this district. No doubt this district needs a serious attention from all governmental & non-governmental agencies under such a sorry state of affairs. The intellectuals of the region rose to accept the challenge under a welfare society namely Milli Educational Welfare Society came into begin to impact quality education, over all development of the district.
Milli Educational & Welfare Society has an ambitious plan to bring education at the door step to the economically, socially and culturally deprived section of the society. Vocational Training is also done here for getting livelihood. We shall scale the highest success by providing Girl’s education, Hostel, Library and other essential amenities as per plan.
Modern public school is the first step. It has been running since 1993, beside we started some other Residential schools, Madarshas and Ten (10) Mukhatabs (Gurukuls) at different remote villages of Kishanganj District. In other field the society took up so many activities in various fields like Socio-Economic and Education survey, Vocational training, Educational seminars, Shiksha Abhiyan, Puls Polio Abhiyan held in different villages. During 2003-2004 the society started Computer Education for Rural Youth and success fully encourage girls’ student participated in it, at Modern Public School premises. Our society already decided to setup 125 centers in different remote villages to provide free and proper education for girls.
We used to organize and promote Environment Awareness, Rural Development Programme, Social Forestry, Agricultural and Horticulture Development Programme, Promoting Organic Farming, Bio-fertilizer & Vermin Compost, Sanitation Programme and Promoting, Youth Affair Outdoor & Indoor sports, Health & Family Welfare Programme, Women Empowerment Programme, Awareness against Dowry, Formation & Training of Self Help Group, at least but not the last.
Presently, we are serving two Kasturba Gandhi girls school one at Kochadhaman, Pothia and other in Terahagachh Block of Kishanganj District from the assistance of Bihar Govt. and a Jan Shikshan Sansthan under Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India.
Milli Educational & Welfare Society is very much devoted to continue the literacy programme to completely eradicate the illiteracy, Poverty, Social evils, In spite of acute financial problems.
